Soroptimist International is a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.  The word Soroptimist, loosely translated from Latin, means “best for women.”

Soroptimist International of Helena (SI Helena) offers the following awards and scholarships.

Dream It Be It Award:  This award provides girls with access to professional role models, career education and resources to live their dreams.  Topics covered include career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, overcoming obstacles to success and how to move forward after setbacks and failures.  SI Helena launched a financial component of $3,000 to provide girls leaving secondary school with the resources they need to pursue their goals.

Professional Technical Award:  Open to all in the Helena and surrounding areas of Soroptimist International and is enrolled in a professional or technical certificate program.  The award amount is $2,500.

Live Your Dream Award:  Open to any woman with primary financial responsibility for her family; accepted to a vocational program or undergrad degree; has financial need and be motivated to achieve her educational and career goals.  Two awards at $2,500 each.

Margaret Chivers Award:  Open to graduating high school senior girls from any local high school and who is planning on attending an in-state four year college.  Award amount is $3,000 paid over two years.
